Meet The Staff!
Dr. David Jewett
Director of Bands
Dr. Jewett has been at La Quinta High School for 6 years, and has a masters degree in jazz pedagogy. He has been involved in music education and performance for over 30 years. His experience ranges from teaching middle school and high school band, directing a professional jazz ensemble, and touring the United States for 8 summers with a drum and bugle corps. He has also performed with symphonies as a trumpeter. In addition to the trumpet, Dr. Jewett plays electric bass, a bit of drums, very little jazz piano, and can play simple melodies with a decent sound on most wind instruments. He is married, has four kids, and loves to teach, perform, read, cycle, and talk with people about who they are and what excites them the most.
