Wind Ensemble Auditions for NEXT School year are up on CHARMS. Submissions must be made to the recording studio. Please visit the website for more details. Percussion, you will get audition details as well.
THE FIRST NEW YORK TRIP MEETING IS WEDNESDAY EVENING AT 7:00PM. Don't let money deter you from coming to the meeting! We want to include everyone who is interested.
No formal Sectionals this week. Please use this week and next week to get in your last rehearsals for Solo/Ensemble Festival on April 12th. Solo/Ensemble Festival entries will be paid by the Boosters. It is your responsibility to make sure you are prepared! Do NOT waste the available time that you have before school/after school/lunch
Music focus this week will be on Prelude, Siciliano, and Rondo by Malcolm Arnold, and The Fairest of the Fair. Please continue to work on Festive Overture. (Get on youtube to check out recordings!) Thursday's Rehearsal after school will be from 3:00pm - 5:00pm. We will work on the Malcolm Arnold, and Shostakovich. Percussion parts will be handed out in class this week. If we have time, will will run through Flight of the Piasa (A Tempo de Sheldon).
Student Conductors will get a chance to start rehearsing the band after Solo/Ensemble Festival. Start to prepare your scores this week and next week.
Rehearsal Wednesday 3:00pm - 5:00pm. Focus this week will be on Loch Lomond, March of the Trolls, and Night on Bald Mountain.
Rehearsal Monday & Friday. We will continue to work on Madrid and Do Nothin' Til You Hear From Me. We will be starting a Jazz Combo that will have three gigs in May. We will need Drums, Bass, and any combination of Saxes/Trombones/Trumpets. Strong improvisation is necessary to be a part of this group. Rehearsal details will be discussed on Monday.
Facilities Survey - IMPORTANT!!!
The District is conducting a survey that parents and students can fill out regarding the conditions of our facility. To be very direct, our facility no longer suits our needs. We have outgrown it! Shadow Hills is still fairly New, Palm Desert received a new band room/performing arts building, Indio HS is under construction with a new theater and band room on the way, we should have something nice too, right? Please take a few minutes and take this online survey, with enough participation, we may have a good chance of getting the district's attention.
